BIHARSHARIF: NDA organised a huge procession here on Saturday to press the state and Union governments to declare Nalanda district as drought-hit. The procession comprised of several thousand party workers besides common people from every panchayat of Nalanda.
The procession marched through the main thoroughfares of the town and the leaders handed over a memorandum to the Nalanda DDC.

The memorandum covered 21 important issues, the main being declaration of Nalanda district as drought-affected, waiving of agricultural loan and land revenue, provision of relief to the affected people, providing ample electricity and irrigation facilities to cultivators.
The procession culminated at the local Labour Welfare Centre where NDA leaders including former Union ministers Nitish Kumar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dr C P Thakur, and MLAs Brishan Patel, Shrawan Kumar, Ram Charitra Prasad, Ram Swaroop Prasad and MP Sushil Kumar Modi.
Nitish Kumar said the Lalu-Rabri government in Bihar has given nothing to the people of the state except hunger and sufferings like rape, murder, loot, kidnapping and unemployment. He said people in north Bihar suffered a lot due to the unprecedented flood but when Lalu visited the flood-affected areas, he remarked flood had given the people the opportunity to fish at their doorsteps. "Not only this, Lalu told them that his government is not at all interested in the development of the state because Nitish Kumar lost his ministry in spite of the fact that he had done commendable work," he said.
Kumar called upon the people to judge for themselves the work done by NDA government at the Centre and that done by the RJD-Congress combine government in Bihar.
Kumar also said that many corrupt ministers have got berths in Manmohan Singh-led government at Centre and they have raised their fingers on the former MP CM Uma Bharti, who is honest and fair.
As far as declaration of drought is concerned, Kumar said, till date Bihar government has not yet submitted the necessary reports to the Centre to declare 18 districts of Bihar as drought-affected.
The other leaders also asked the people to kick out the present Lalu-Rabri ministry from Bihar in the coming elections otherwise their doom is certain. They also said that people should refrain from caste and community feelings and vote only deserving candidates.
